Ivana B. Cvetkovic
journalist, media studies scholar, pop culture fan
I am a Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Communication & Journalism at the University of New Mexico with interests in journalism, technology and culture. I got my M.A. in Communication from Saint Louis University.
As a political journalist (and PR professional) in Serbia, I gained competencies in and a deeper understanding of news production across multimedia platforms as well as an international perspective on contemporary media phenomena.
As a researcher, I have presented papers, single and co-authored, at international, national and regional conferences. Some of these have been accepted for publication in peer-reviewed journals and as book chapters. As a teacher of record, I teach both skills and theory-oriented courses (in face-to-face and online formats).
My way of having fun is watching a TV show and thinking about main concepts and representations as channels for conveying a message to the audience. Currently, I am a huge fan of The Walking Dead TV show! I also like pop culture and modern art because I enjoy watching the creation of different reality constructions. In addition to media, pop culture and modern art, I like traveling and spending time with my cat and two dogs.
Enjoy watching the first video that I made as a Masters student at Saint Louis University in 2014.
